No Compromise!
MERCY TRAIN was created, founded and brought to reality by Skip Prokop and guitarist Matt Shelvock with the help of Skip’s son Jamie Prokop and bassist Ryan Ethier in late 2005. Skip and Matt had already been formulating the concept and execution of the band and had found Ryan, but no lead singer. Jamie came alongside of his Dad’s vision and was the last to come on board. The members of MT are “no-nonsense” individuals who have an unrelenting passion for music.
That passion explodes alongside of their conviction to not compromise neither their faith nor their chosen styles of music when it comes to experimenting with different genres and flavours of our musical culture. They tend to abide in the "We'll play whatever we feel like and if you don't like it...don't listen" rule. The guys just want to be able to express themselves and pay tribute to Jesus Christ along with the artists that influenced their musical style and sound.
MERCY TRAIN is currently working on a full length CD of original compositions and has been building a sound that is both unique and soulful. Their blend of Acoustic & Electric sounds will sooth the hardest, and pound on the softest of hearts with their groove-based material. It has been a very positive yet sometimes exhausting adventure for the band completing their full length release, which they have been working on for over a year now. However, they are all very thankful and humbled by the amount of support and encouragement they have received from many people to help complete the project. "It has been a trip" as the band says, "and we are looking forward to finishing the CD and getting out and playing many many many shows...cuz that's what we really want to do when the time comes...that’s what music is for and that’s what we are all about".
They also completed an EP back in 2007 that they continue to request be copied, shared, and given away at no charge. FREE DOWNLOADS
